Talk:SSH Over USB

Discussion page of SSH Over USB

I think this is all SUPER out of date!

1. https://github.com/onlinemediagroup/ocaml-usbmux/

2. https://github.com/onlinemediagroup/ocaml-usbmux/issues

Last code updates were like 7 years ago! and that is for "a newer solution called Gandalf"!!!

So I don't think this page should be displayed as 'current.'

ALSO: it mentions `usbmux` within the `opam` pkg-mgr.... ... But it seems that `usbmux` is (now? since when?) available in the APT repos for *buntu. IDK IANAD (I Am Not A Developer) .

Regardless: The instructions on this wiki-page seem broken & obsolete.

The instructions are perfectly valid and not outdated. No further updates are required because the instructions work! I can’t speak for gandalf since I’ve never used it, but the other instructions are accurate. But needing to install usbmux from opam is probably correct, to get ocaml bindings to the native libusbmuxd library. Do not vandalise pages with ALL CAPS SHOUTING in the intro that it’s outdated, especially if you haven’t actually tested the solutions. kirb (talk) 00:48, 10 February 2023 (UTC)

added some info on how to tunnel SSH over USB for Linux i also mentioned that using the python script, at least on linux, is almost entery deprecated. that because the gitversion of usbmuxd have removed the python-client and the overall client was written on an old version of python and clashes with the current python installed on many distributions. while i can fix it and make it up for the missing modules, its not worth it, as the usbmuxd provided by libimobiledevice is more up to date (iOS 8 is supported) and overally more easy to use
